‘Finding Your Path’
As promised, my Top Ten Tips for ‘Finding your Path’. How do I know they work? Because they have been tried and tested for years and years by yours truly! As you may know by now I used to be way off my path, on someone else’s path, but not mine. I graduated in 2000 and my first job was as a secretary in an IT company. I thought I had to work in an office to be a success. So that is where I started and I worked my way up to Project Manager and bounced from office to office, but still the emptiness wouldn’t leave me. Was the emptiness inside of me reflecting in my external circumstance or were my circumstance making me desolate? Either way, I decided to change.
I didn’t like where I was, who I was or how I was feeling. So I decided to get better at being me. And the rest, or so they say, is history! Take what resonates with you and leave the rest.
1, Take quiet time or actively meditate. Still your mind and empty your thoughts. Get used to being alone and being quiet. Only when you do this will the true you begin to emerge. Distractions keep you pinned to the same position and hinder your growth. Spend time in nature and truly appreciate this planet we live on.
2, Start a journal and try and make it a daily habit to get out whatever is inside of you. Hopes, dreams, fears, successes and failures. We carry around a lot of baggage that sometimes we can just get rid of by expressing it. Looking back over time will enable you too see just how far you have come.
3, Create a Vision Board of how you want your future to look like and feel like. You can do this physically with a scrap book and magazine cuttings or on Pinterest. I do both! By doing this you are setting a goal for your subconscious..something that is actually tangible rather than a vague, flimsy dream.
4, Start a gratitude list and add at least 3 things to it daily. There is always something to be grateful for, no matter how small. Warm house, clean clothes, food to eat. What you focus your attention on grows. Again, when the storm comes having this list helps. You will see how you have always been provided for and blessed, and you will be again.
5, Create a set of affirmations or take one at a time and work on it until you have grasped it and absorbed the meaning. There are times where I have felt far from abundant and petrified of where my money was coming from. This is where I meditiate on ‘I am abundance and prosperity’ over and over until my subconscious has grasped it and pulled me out of the feeling of lack that was pulling me under.
6, Surround yourself with uplifting/inspiring people. Those who are further down their own path have so much to offer you. Listen to what they have to say. They have lived it and worked things through. I try to do this with limiting my TV time and reading the paper too. I have a general awareness of what is happening in the world, but I am mindful of what is going into my subconscious. The ways of the world can be draining and mind-numbing. I read motivational books, follow inspiring people on Facebook and listen to motivational speakers on Youtube. A lot!
7, Be creative in whatever way suits you. Sing, paint, draw, play an instrument, write, sew..Whatever it is. The finished product is not what is important, it is allowing yourself that time and freedom to be creative. For me, creativity is freedom. I paint, not because I want to create a pretty picture but because I have something inside of me that needs to be expressed. By blocking your creativity you are blocking a vital piece of you.
8,Be kind to yourself. Life can be hard. It isn’t always plain sailing. With the happy and joyful moments come the moments of pain and sorrow. Be your own best friend and learn to love yourself. Listen to your own needs. Let the emotions come but don’t let them own you. Know that everything will pass. It always does.
9, Relax and let go. Know that you have set your intentions with your vision board, you have left your baggage with your journal and you are working on your subconscious thinking with your affirmations. There is now nothing else you can. Let go. Do not mentally carry that problem. Worry does not get you anywhere. Surrender to the flow and know that what will be will be.
10, Share your path, your experience and your gift and talents with others! We all want to share in your joy, your light and your love. The world needs more of us!
You made it..Hurrah, now get going. Keep me posted. I would love to hear progress reports.
