Follow that Dream
I have been in a reflective mood this week, which has my mind re-tracing my steps since I took the crazy decision to follow my dreams and pursue being a full-time artist. I have been looking back at my very first painting sold in 2007 and forward to today. There are now well over 500 paintings of mine sold!!!

What strikes me though, and the bit you don’t get to see is the background behind the painting, the bit that I crop out in photo editor. This to me is more relevant than the painting as it shows just how far I have come, physically and how much I have grown as a person. As I see my paintings chronologically I see a timeline of temporary accommodation, sofa surfing, spare rooms and rented places all tied together with a continual line of creativity. The reason I did not have permanent accommodation at this point in my life was because the calling to do this was too strong to ignore. It had chosen me and I had chosen it.
I see bedroom floors, garden sheds, industrial units, empty shops, kitchen tables. Anywhere I could have some space to paint..I never gave up. Never in my wildest dream did I imagine this was waiting for me..

That in 2013 I would marry my lovely husband and move into this beautiful cottage. But here I am and I am so thankful and so grateful.
So thank you for joining me on this journey. All I can say is if you have that dream, that calling, please don’t give up. The strife, the pain, the effort will all make sense in the end. I promise!

As my tea states every morning on the box, ‘Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive, then go do that. What the world needs is people who have come alive’, Howard Thurman.
